On #NationalCoachesDay, we wanted to share this incredible post by @clever_with_ing explaining the importance of those people in your life that “have your back”. Pictured Muny Golf Pro and owner of @austingolfacademy, Erik Lopez, is just that to so many in our Muny community. We are so appreciative of Erik and all other coaches out there, today and everyday 💚

Repost @clever_with_ing • Being a professional athlete of a non-team sport is a full-time battle with solitude and isolation. So much time is spent blocking out noise, choosing to do something that isn’t social, and forsaking fun for fundamentals. I’m not whining about it, I made my choice, and I persevere each minute of the day because people have my back.
Knowing that someone is cheering you on, admiring your ability, or pushing you to be better than you were the day before is not just a key to progress, but a necessity to growth both on and off the course.
I spent the past couple years, unfortunately, surrounding myself with people that were quick to take all the support I could give, and run the other way when I asked for a fraction of the same. When I launched onto the path back to competitive professional golf, I eliminated unsupportive people, and replaced them with friends, family, and a Team of individuals that remind me on an hourly basis that I am capable in all aspects of life: emotional stability, physical ability, and reciprocal caring, admiration, and love. This feeling of fulfillment in the people in your life allows you to overcome the impossible, replicate the probable, and grow exponentially as a person albeit an athlete.
Finding your “cheerleaders” in all areas of your life is extremely important; damn near a necessity. Co-workers, educators, spiritual leaders, best friends, a family member, and mentors are the essential ingredients to success in life. Through the late night hours of preparing for a test, researching data for a project at work, or running alone before dawn, knowing that someone or something has your back fulfills you emotionally, mentally, and spiritually so that the path can be cleared for you to amaze yourself and others.
Now reach out and let someone know you have their back, dammit!!!
