On April 1st, 2025, team members from the Muny Conservancy, Muny Conservancy Advisory Board, Austin Founder Lions Club, and Save Historic Muny District gathered to bury a Centennial Time Capsule at Lions Municipal Golf Course in front of the iconic Lion.

Inside of the time capsule are memorabilia from Muny’s 100 Year Celebration - 1924-2024 - the celebration program from Oct. 3, 2024, West Austin News articles, a Save Muny/ Muny Conservancy book, small drives with photos and videos, history of the course and the Lions Club founders, golf balls, etc. 

Attendees included Tommy Cowan and Ken Crone (Austin Founder Lions Club), Scotty Sayers and Holly Reed (Muny Conservancy), Cary Petri, Thomas McConnell, Lyles Carter (Muny Conservancy Advisory Board), and Mary Arnold (Save Historic Muny District).

After the time capsule was placed in the ground, the team members helped shovel dirt over the capsule to bury it for the next 100 years with special shovels made for this occasion by Tommy Cowan. Once the burial was finished, there was a special champagne toast and cupcakes to celebrate the next 100 years of Muny!
