General Marshall's Bday - VIDEO

Today we honor a true Austin legend 🤍 On February 27, 2021, the City of Austin officially proclaimed General Marshall Day — celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. General Marshall, one of Muny’s biggest advocates and our city’s most cherished lifelong residents.

A proud Clarksville native, professor and golf coach at Huston-Tillotson University, and former Yellowjacket at L.C. Anderson High School, General Marshall dedicated his life to education, mentorship, and civil rights.

As a passionate advocate for Lions Municipal Golf Course, he witnessed its desegregation in 1950 and later helped secure its place on the National Register of Historic Places — ensuring Muny’s powerful civil rights story would never be forgotten.

Proclaimed by Mayor Steve Adler, General Marshall Day stands as a lasting tribute to a man who championed equity, public access to golf, and the spirit of Austin.

His legacy continues to inspire generations đź’š
