The beauty of Muny doesn’t just run skin deep, although the sunsets, 141 acres of green space, and hundreds of heritage trees do a wonderful job at representing Lions on the surface.

As Austin’s most beloved public golf course, Muny hosts over 60,000 rounds of golf each year, stages more charity tournaments than any other Austin golf course, and is the home course to a dozen middle and high school teams. Lions annually hosts UIL State Tournaments, junior golf camps, and The Firecracker, one of the oldest and most prestigious amateur tournaments in Texas.

Lions Municipal is also the first golf course in the South to desegregate and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places for its role as a civil rights landmark. Muny became a place where all people, regardless of race, could meet and play golf together.
